last year, i was on a three-month stint in one of the smallest towns in italy. this year, the view’s changed a bit, and i’m in one of the most crowded cities in the world, indefinitely.
so much has changed. and so much hasn’t. but i’m a little older.
and that’s all i have to say for tonight.
on a Kina kick.
love her.

He held her
By the pockets
Of her coat
I couldn’t find my sunglasses
And they couldn’t find someone
To take their photo
So we turned
To watch thirty-three-hundred people
Set sail for warmer degrees
And break the river
One ripple at time
Through contact
And camera lenses
i’ve officially been a northerner for 41 days and just started my 4th week of work. it still hasn’t hit me that i’ll be waking up while it’s still dark out for the rest of my life, but well, i guess that will come with time.
hoboken has been treating me very well. it’s cold up here, but i don’t think it’s as cold as usual (aka last year i tried to fly to italy from new york at this time and was delayed thanks to four feet of snow). i heard it was 65 degrees down south yesterday. don’t want to hear about it. i’m getting used to these 15-minute walks to my public transportation havens underground. and getting used to my new pairs of gloves.
working at yelp has been great. 80% of the office is in sales so everyone has these pretty similar work-hard-play-hard-get-shit-done-and-make-that-money personalities. there’s 9 of us in my sales training class. 7 guys. 2 girls. we’ve gotten pretty close over the past few weeks. love emmmm. we’ve got a fully stocked kitchen, which is quite the plus on my new-to-the-real-world budget. and by fully stocked i mean, breakfast/lunch/dinner, you can make whatever you please. lunchmeat sandwiches, greek yogurts, hummus galore, egg salad, pasta salad, chicken salad, cereal, ramen, easy mac, fruit, vegetables, salad supplies, chips, frozen meals, and not to mention nutella (and strangely vegemite), etc, etc. we have a fully stocked fridge with endless redbull, beers, juice, cokes, and a beer tap that always has something 2 new tastys for fridays (mostly). that’s my update on life. winter and work. and then there are weekends :)

It’s just us and the turtles and the catamaran today. Last full day in Barbados :( (Taken with instagram)
We’re on the fourth floor walk-up, but i’m on the 6th floor. This is the view from my loft. Oh, hey Empire State Building.
Trent, Kelli and I took our 15-hour treks up from Georgia to Hoboken, and we’re all moved into our three floor, not so shabby first apartment! It took about to week to get it all set up as “home,” and we’re almost done. We’ve got some walls in the kitchen we’re going to paint this weekend and a wall upstairs, but other than that, we’re settled :)
5 days until Barbados with Ryan.
11 days until work starts at Yelp.
Until then, I’ll be hanging out, enjoying the non-working-woman lifestyle.
